Overview of Gujarat High Court Stenographer 2024 Syllabus
The Competitive Examination shall consist of :
[A] Elimination Test (Objective Type- MCQs) [100 Marks]
[B] Stenography / Skill Test [70 Marks]
[C] Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview) [30 Marks]
(A) Elimination Test (Objective Type-MCQs) [100 Marks – 75 Minutes] :
[Tentatively scheduled on 16/06/2024 (Sunday)]
Elimination Test (Objective Type-MCQs) consisting of 100 Multiple
Choice Questions (MCQs), each of 1 Mark. For every wrong /
multiple answer, there shall be Negative Marking of 0.33 Marks.
Language of the Question Paper shall be English, except otherwise
Questions in Gujarati. Duration of the Test shall be 75 Minutes.
Syllabus for Elimination Test : General Knowledge, English
Language & Grammar, Gujarati Language & Grammar, Current
Affairs, Numerical & Mental Ability and Computer
Fundamentals/Operation, etc.
The Elimination Test (Objective Type-MCQs) shall be administered
through Computer Based Test (CBT) and shall be evaluated through
Response Sheets of the exam by way of software, ensuring minimul
human intervention in the evaluation process. Therefore, reevaluation, rechecking/re-assessment, will not be entertained by the
High Court.
The Candidates shall have to secure minimum 50% in the
Elimination Test and only those qualifying thereat, shall be allowed
to appear for Stenography/Skill Test.
Marks obtained in the Elimination Test (Objective Type-MCQs) will
not be considered for determining the merits, for preparing the Final
Merit List.
(B) Stenography/Skill Test :

Stenography Test shall be of 70 Marks. The particulars thereof, are

Candidate shall have to write the Dictation in Shorthand Notations
ONLY and those found to be taking/taken dictation in longhand
would be disqualified forthwith.
The Candidate securing minimum 50% Marks in the Stenography
Test, shall only be eligible for being called for Viva-Voce Test (Oral
Interview).
In case, large number of Candidates qualify in the Stenography Test, it
will be open for the High Court to restrict the number of Candidates
as deemed necessary, according to Merit.
(C) Viva-voce Test :
[Tentatively scheduled in the month of August, 2024 / September, 2024]
Viva-voce Test shall be of 30 Marks.
For being eligible to be included in the Final Merit List, the Candidate
shall have to obtain minimum 50% Marks in the Viva-Voce Test
(Oral Interview).
