The 'Disability Division' of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment will be strengthened by converting it into a separate Department, so that it can liaise effectively with all the other concerned Ministries/Departments and fulfill its responsibilities towards the disabled. The UDID project initiated by Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities aims at building a holistic end-to-end integrated system for Issuance of Universal ID & Disability Certificates for Person with Disabilities with their identification and disability details. About Unique Disability ID (UDID)
"Unique ID for Persons with Disabilities” project is being implemented with a view of creating a National Database for PwDs, and to issue a Unique Disability Identity Card to each person with disabilities. The project will not only encourage transparency, efficiency and ease of delivering the government benefits to the person with disabilities, but also ensure uniformity.The project will also help in stream-lining the tracking of physical and financial progress of beneficiary at all levels of hierarchy of implementation – from village level, block level, District level , State level and National level.
UDID Card Benefits

The UDID card shall bring a host of benefits to the Persons with Disabilities as given below :

  1. Persons with disabilities will not need to make multiple copies of documents, maintain, and carry multiple documents as the card will capture all the necessary details which can be decoded with the help of a reader
  2. The UDID card will be the single document of identification, verification of the disabled for availing various benefits in future
  3. The UDID Card will also help in stream-lining the tracking of the physical and financial progress of beneficiary at all levels of hierarchy of implementation – from village level, block level, District level , State level and National level
How To Apply

  1. Register on the UDID Web portal. http://www.swavlambancard.gov.in/pwd/application
  2. Login using the credentials given to you and “Apply”. Read all instructions before proceeding with the application process.
  3. Upload a Colour Photograph and all the other necessary documents as mentioned in the form.
  4. Take a print out of the application and submit the data to the CMO Office / Medical Authority
  5. Post verification by the concerned agency, the officials will conduct an assessment and give feedback about the disability.
  6. Medical Board will review the feedback and mark the disability percentage.
  7. The Disability Certificate and the UDID Card will be generated and sent to the concerned individual at the registered address.
