The applicant must have passed Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
Language :
The applicant must be able to read, write and speak Bengali language provided that the provision will not be applicable to the persons who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.
For the applicants of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts, the provisions laid down in the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961 (West Ben. Act XXIV of 1961) shall be applicable.
The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board is to recruit individuals best suited for the job based on a fair, impartial, transparent, objective and merit-based recruitment process involving modern technology. Initially, the Board was given responsibility only for the recruitment of Constables & Sub-Inspector/ Lady Sub-Inspector in West Bengal Police. Later, the Government has given the responsibility of recruitment to the post of Constables/Lady Constables, Sub-Inspector/ Sub-Inspectress and Sergeant in Kolkata Police, Wireless Supervisor, Wireless Operator and recruitment of Staff for other uniformed services like Department of Excise, Correctional Administration, Forest, Disaster Management & Civil Defence.
